2023-24 IS Peer Advisors

Each academic year the IS Program benefits enormously from the leadership of our Peer Advisors, and we invite you to consider serving in this important role during the 2024-25 academic year.

We are looking for a diverse team of hard-working IS seniors and juniors with excellent writing and communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to help other students flourish in the IS Program.

关于职位

International Studies Peer Advisors are crucial contributors to the IS Program, and we take great care in selecting them each year. Our 同行顾问 actually serve in two related but distict roles:

  • As 同行顾问 they are given special training, and they draw upon on their own experiences, to advise prospective and current majors and minors about all aspects of the IS Program. Among the many issues they discuss with other students: admission requirements and process, graduation requirements, choosing a concentration, identifying relevant courses and faculty members, making the most of study abroad, deciding whether to write a thesis, tips for job and internship searches, 和更多的. (见 同侪建议页面 欲知详情.)

  • As 项目助理, they are part of the IS Program staff, which works together to do everything we do: send out the weekly newsletter, manage the web site, plan academic and social events, organize career conversations with alumni, and lead special projects, 和更多的.

In both of these roles, these students are visible leaders in the IS Program who are encouraged to be proactive in our efforts to build community, keep everyone informed, and make the Program as good as it can be for all of us. Some of both aspects of the position will be in person, and some aspects will be remote/online. In all cases you'll work closely with the IS Program director (Prof. Owens), associate director (Prof. (靠), and program administrators (Patricia Joyce, Maria Ordoñez); hours may vary each week but we have weekly staff meetings, 我们使用Slack, 谷歌驱动, 谷歌文档, and a variety of other collaboration tools to complete our projects.
